How To Stop Bedwetting (Enuresis) – 15 Home Remedies

Bedwetting, also known as enuresis, is a common phenomenon amongst infants and little kids.

Factors that could cause infantile bedwetting include; their bladder might be too small, urinary tract infections, hormone imbalance, sleeping too deeply or the child is still learning how to control his/her bladder. Stress could also be a factor. As such a child should not be punished for wetting the bed.

Kids do not wet their beds on purpose and most of them outgrow bedwetting.

Here are some tips to help your kid stop bedwetting;

  • Ensure access to the toilet is easy for your child especially at night.
  • Minimize consumption of fluids, for your child, within 2 hours of bedtime.
  • If possible, let your kid sleep with absorbent pants throughout the night.
  • Avoid blaming or castigating the child for bedwetting. Bedwetting is not an intentional act.
  • Reassure your kid that bedwetting is common and he/she would eventually stop bedwetting with time.
  • Setup a routine for your child to wake up at night to go urinate.
  • Let your child know that the responsibility for staying dry throughout the night is his/hers.
  • Make cleaning up, after bedwetting, easy by using waterproof bed covers, room deodorizers and “easy to wash” absorbent bedsheets.
  • Ensure your child urinates, in the bathroom, before going to bed.

Below are 15 home remedies and natural treatments to help your child stop bedwetting;
