Vitiligo is characterized by white patches and spots on the skin. These patches can appear virtually anywhere on the body such as your hands, feet, legs, face, arms, lips, hair, around the eyes and mouth, etc.

The exact cause of this condition is unknown. However, it is believed that it is an autoimmune condition in which the immune system attacks the melanin-producing cells called melanocytes.

2. Aloe Vera


Aloe vera helps in hydrating the skin and providing deep nourishment to it. It can help in removing the white spots in a natural manner. Cut and open a fresh aloe vera leaf and extract its gel. 10. Babchi (Psoralea corylifolia)


Babchi is an excellent herb to treat hypopigmentation and can be helpful in reducing white patches due to vitiligo. Extract some ginger juice and soak some babchi or bakhuchi seeds in it for 3 days replacing the juice every day. Rub the seeds to remove the husk and dry them by placing them in the sun. Grind the dried seeds and consume one gram of it with a glass of milk. Do this for 40 days. The powder form can also be applied topically to the affected areas. Alternatively, you may apply babchi oil over the white patches and ensure exposure to direct sunlight for 15 minutes every day to restore your natural skin color.

11. Red Clay


Red clay is composed of a high amount of copper that helps in treating hypopigmentation. Ginger helps in improving circulation of the area and heals the skin due to its antioxidant properties. Mix 2 parts of red clay with 1 part of ginger juice and rub it over the white patches. Leave it on your skin for 10-12 minutes and wash it with water.

12. Apple Cider Vinegar


The antimicrobial properties of apple cider vinegar are great for reducing fungal infections from the skin that may cause the formation of white patches. Also, low levels of acid in the stomach is associated with vitiligo which can be treated with ACV. Dilute the vinegar with equal parts of water and apply it on the affected areas. You may also drink ACV mixed with water before your meals.

13. Turmeric


Take 5 teaspoons full of powdered turmeric and add about 1 cup of mustard oil in it. Mix well and apply it to the discolored patches. Do this twice every day and continue this remedy for a year. 17. Ammi Visnaga


Ammi Visnaga or khella is an Egyptian medicinal plant that helps in treating vitiligo. It can be taken in form of a supplement along with food. The dosage should be discussed with a physician and may depend on the severity of the disease.

18. Tea Tree Oil


Tea tree oil is great for any skin problem and would help in treating white patches. Mix a little tea tree oil with a carrier oil and use a cotton ball to apply it on the problem areas. Let it stay for a few hours and reapply it 1-2 times a day.

19. Carrots

Boil 1-2 Mama Cadela roots in 2 cups of water for 12-15 minutes to make mama cadela root tea. Let it cool and apply this tea directly to the affected areas. Leave it for 10-15 minutes and wash the area thoroughly with water. Mama Cadela contains bergapten and psoralen that helps in treating depigmented skin.

22. Vitamin B12 And Folic Acid


A deficiency of vitamin B12 is commonly seen in patients with vitiligo. Hence restoring your whole vitamin levels will help in a faster recovery from the disease.
